Charmaine joined Braddell Brothers in 2009 after gaining considerable experience in the litigation and dispute resolution departments of two prominent medium-sized Singapore law practices.

Charmaine's practice comprises a wide spectrum of commercial litigation and arbitration, including cross-border litigation, company and shareholder disputes, breaches of directors' duties, banking, insolvency, construction disputes and tort.

    Commercial & Corporate Litigation & Arbitration

  • Advising and successfully representing an Indonesian oil company in a complex ICC Arbitration (the claim exceeded US$100 million and the counterclaim exceeded US$300 million) against one of Indonesia's most prominent state-owned companies involving a dispute over the latter's refusal to fulfil its obligations under an Enhanced Oil Recovery contract and failure to act in "good faith" in accordance with Article 1338 (3) of the Indonesian Civil Code.

  • Advising and representing a Malaysian company in a claim for more than RM44 million involving issues of breach of fiduciary duties, fraud and conspiracy.

  • Advising and representing a local high net-worth individual on a claim for the return investment funds.

  • Advising a renowned local company in the business of computer manufacture and distribution on issues relating to a Deed of Guarantee and other securities.

  • Advising a specialist Irish company on carbon emissions credit trading in Singapore.

  • Advising a local investment company on various contractual disputes involving numerous investment projects in the People's Republic of China.

  • Advising the liquidators of an insolvent local company on various claims by minority creditors.
    Construction and Engineering Disputes

  • Acting for a prominent local construction company in an action in the Singapore High Court Suit and in a related ICC arbitration involving a claim of more than GBP 4 million.

  • Acting for a major Singapore construction company in respect of an arbitration dispute arising out of a public construction project in Singapore.

  • Advising a specialist international construction company in respect of a major project in Taiwan involving cross-border litigation.

  • Acting for the Management Corporation of District 9 condominium development in Singapore involving more than 100 subsidiary proprietors, in claims against its developers and contractors.

  • Acting for a Singapore company that owns a substantial interest in a hotel and resort on Sentosa Island in a highly acrimonious shareholders' dispute.
